Full Description
4 June 1980.
Long house, stepped gables at each end with pairs of oval windows, and niche in each gable.
Former date plaques are eroded but may read '16--'.
Much restoration; chimneys have panelled sides but these have been renewed.
2 storeys; windows altered but preserve original overall form.
Near east end on both floors a slit-like window,staircase?
(S1) confuses name of this house with location of Hall Farm (NHER 14206), his description applies to both.
Source [1] states that there is a winding stair with a 'beautifully facetted' newel post.
Visited by E. Rose (NLA) 2 March 1995.
(S2) confirms the 17th century winding stair and also notes a 19th century dogleg stair and wing.
Dates main house to 16th century altered in 17th century.
