Summary

A medieval road is visible as a cropmark on RAF aerial photographs taken in 1948. This road is referred to as Wayngate in medieval documentary sources, and was removed in the 18th century when the New Park was created.

In a survey of the parish undertaken in 1454-5 this road is marked as Wayngate (that is, the cart-road), according to (S1).
