Summary

Fieldwalking has recovered a wide range of finds dating from the Neolithic to the post medieval period. Many prehistoric worked flints, fragments of Iron Age pottery and a post medieval knife were found. Cropmarks of a possible undated site can be seen on aerial photographs of this field.

One heavy flint scraper, one rough discoidal chipped knife.

Area extended to west after more finds as above.
Several sherds of decorated Grimston green glazed jugs.
Large number of crude local 13th century wares, including rim with occlusions.

Tiny rim sherd Neolithic or Iron Age.

Fragment of lava quern, and large concentration of glass kiln debris. [2]

1980 to 1984.
On ploughed ground within one hectare, northeast of Gooche's Cottages.
Worked flints: cutting end of broken, ground axe, double rounded end scraper, hammerstone, bifacial implement resembling flat butted cordate handaxe but condition suggests Neolithic/Bronze Age. Knife rough-out?
Middle segment of broken blade with one retouched edge.
Three very crude scrapers.
Thirteen flakes.
Rectangular flake with two retouched edges. Gun flint?
