Summary

The former use of these properties is not known. However, they now operate as shops and an office. The buildings date to the early 17th century onwards with 20th century renovation. They have a rendered timber frame first floor, which is jettied. They are set out in seven bays with three 20th century shop fronts and a carriage entrance to the left of centre. Each bay of the medieval undercroft has double order diagonal ribs and wall arches. Trenches dug here in 1973 discovered a Late Saxon pottery kiln and various Saxon materials and pottery sherds were recovered from the undercroft around this time.
