Map

Square earthwork enclosure marked on (S1). The only other features on the map marked in the same way are Brancaster Roman fort and the enclosures at the head of the pseudo Peddars Way. Its position seems to be marked on the edge of the marsh, though this area is now on the golf course. Perhaps a cattle refuge, but could be a fortification.
E. Rose (NAU), 29 July 1980.

April 1982. Visit.
Owing to changes in the coastline the exact position marked on (S1) is difficult to ascertain on the ground today. In what appears to be the right area are a number of banks and bumps, no coherent pattern, but probably all more recent coastal embankments and clearance of spoil in making the golf course.
E. Rose (NAU), 22 April 1982.

March 2012.
According to staff at the National Trust's Millennium Activity Centre, this earthwork enclosure is described as a Roman fortification on a map in (S2). This map has not yet been examined by HES staff.
R. Hoggett (HES), 25 January 2013.
