In 1980 medieval pottery sherds were found in a spoil heap here. The heap comprised of topsoil that was excavated during the laying of pipes.

Full Description
August 1980. In Costessey Park, on spoilheap after topsoil removed for pipelaying.
Medieval sherd; reddish sandy fabric with grit inclusion; black on one edge.
