Summary

The brick built cottage here dates to around 1800. It is of interest due to the fact that the foundations and brick floors of a previous building were discovered underneath the current floor. Further investigation of these earlier foundations identified some sort of attached oven and what might have been a fireplace. It was suggested that these remains belonged to a bakery or smithy which stood on the site before the cottages were built here.
