Summary

When this site was stripped of topsoil before a pipeline was dug across it a thin scatter of prehistoric burnt flint and one fragment of early medieval pottery was recovered.

13 August 1980. On line of track along south-east side of wood.
Found on surface of area stripped of topsoil for Ministry of Defence pipetrench.
Thin scatter of pot boilers, about 10m across (about 10sq.m.) including one sherd of gritty early medieval ware.
Note there was no sign of large amounts of material having been imported to make up track surface.
