A Neolithic polished flint axehead was found on a potato harvester in October 1979. A fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey undertaken across the whole of this area in 1994 identified a scatter of Neolithic worked flints and a scatter of slag and iron ore. A number of post-medieval and modern finds were recovered in amongst the latter, including pottery sherds, clay tobacco fragments and roof tiles.
