Summary

This timber-framed 16th- or 17th-century house has a 19th-century brick wing. A timber framed dairy with brick shelves has been added to the north. Inside there is a spiral staircase beside the chimney stack. To the east is a large clay lump timber framed barn.

Visited by E. Rose (NAU):
Timber framed 16th-century house (with 19th-century brick wing across south end). Two storeys and roof space. In latter high-arched collar beams, and old flooring. Second floor at south end has knee braces to ceiling, and studding
visible inside. North of stack massive ceiling joints obviously reused. These also occur on ground floor. Spiral staircase beside stack. Timber framed dairy with brick shelves added on north.
Poor condition.
To east, barn. Very large; clay lump on timber frame; tie beams on arched braces, and solid arched brackets by cart doors. Much woodwork renewed, and part of south side recently demolished for new building.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Former farmhouse. 17th century and later. Rendered timber frame with colour-washed brick addition. Pantiled and plain tiled roofs. 17th-century 'Lobby Entrance' type house with a mid-19th-century cross wing now forming main wing. Original house of two storeys with attic…Off-centre axial stack. Cross wing of two storeys and three bays of sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches...Decorative ridge tiles and two stacks to rear wall."
