Summary

A good example of a mid 19th century brick and flint barn with a pantile roof, a projecting porch to the south and a rear courtyard. In disrepair by 1980, it has since been restored.

West of rectory, east of parish boundary.
Barn. Probably of about 1800. Pebble-flint and brick quoins, pantile roof.
Rectangular, small, projecting porch on south.
Courtyard arrangement at rear.
Excellent example.

Roof of porch collapsed 1980.
Building cracked elsewhere.
Recommended for listing and repair.

County Council say of 1851.

September 1983. Listed,Grade II.
Listing Description:
"1851 on date stone over N. door. Pebble flint with red brick quoins and eaves courses. Hiped pantiled roofs. Projecting porch on N. side with segmental-headed door. Large double doors with segmental heads on S. side. Cattle yard to S. flanked by open-fronted cattle shelters and cart sheds. Pantiled 'wedge' dormer on E. side."

1987-1988. Restoration.
This barn was restored in 1987, bringing it into commercial use for a cabinetmaking workshop. In 1988 it was awarded a diploma of merit for conservation by Europe Nostra.

The date 1851 appears on the keystone. Building is listed Grade II (S2).
The Norfolk Gardens Survey say this is a rebuilding of an older timber barn.
