Summary

In 1980 a number of artefacts were found under the floor of the 19th century barn here. Finds included part of a Roman flagon, a silver coin of Postumus, a Roman mortarium and sherds of medieval pottery.

Roman greyware base.
Buff ware flagon base, 1st or 2nd century AD.
Silver coin, Antoninianus of Postumus, IOVI STATORI, Cologne, AD 259-68. RIC 278.
Bone tool, probably Roman.
Many sherds including grey mortarium and waster?, 2nd/3rd century AD.
Medieval, one 13th century rim, one green glazed Grimston sherd.
Roman sherds identified by A. Gregory (NAU) and medieval sherds identified by W. Milligan (NCM).
Finds held by NCM.
