Summary

Fieldwalking here in 1979-80 recovered Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. The medieval sherds were the most numerous and were largely unglazed. Post medieval wares that were identified included Staffordshire slipware and glazed red earthenware.

Thetford type rim.
Early medieval ware rim.
Few late medieval sherds.
Many lead-glazed sherds including slipware.
Staffordshire slipware.
Stoneware and clay pipes.

Context 1 whole field. Finds not kept separate from Context 2, but in addition to above there is one probable Roman coarseware rim.
Eighty medieval unglazed.
Four medieval glazed.
The lead glazed sherds mentioned are glazed red earthenware and the Staffordshire sherds are large.
