Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1980 and 2012 recovered prehistoric struck flint, including Mesolithic cores and Neolithic/Bronze Age scrapers, borers and a blade; Roman and medieval pottery sherds; medieval and post-medieval coins and jettons; a post-medieval token and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval thimble and an enamelled bronze plaque showing the winged lion (symbol of St Mark); a medieval/post-medieval suspension loop from a purse and a post-medieval rowel spur.

Enamelled bronze plaque with four rivet holes showing the winged lion (symbol of St Mark). Probably from a cross. Early 13th century, Limoges.
Identified by British Museum (Department of Medieval and Later Antiquaries) 1980.

Found by [3] east of Costessey House, over railway line ([4]):
1 undatable prehistoric retouched flint flake.
2 Mesolithic flint cores (not seen NCM).
