Summary

Metal detecting in 1980 recovered a range of objects, including a Roman furniture fitting, fragments of medieval spur and horse harness, post medieval buckles, thimbles and vessel fragments. Also found was a piece of post medieval pottery.

Roman ornamental circular stud from furniture?
Identified by A. Gregory (NAU), October 1980.

Medieval bronze loop and stud for attachment of strap to terminal of spur.
Also bronze looped plate for attachment of looped strap (horse harness?).
Identified by S. Margeson (NAU).

Undated lead weight, perforated.

Post medieval finds.
Silver half groat of Charles I, worn.
Bronze 18th/19th century thimble.
Bronze peg with flat round head.
Fragment of bronze vessel.
Three buckles with tongues missing.
Fragment of rumbler bell (identified by S. Margeson, NCM).
Sherd of 17th century stoneware (identified by W. Milligan, NCM).
16th/17th century? Thimble (identified by S. Margeson, NCM).
