Full Description
December 1977. Excavation.
Members of the Norfolk Archaeological Research Group excavated a ditch located just to the south of Church Road, east of the church.
The ditch was believed to be a remnant of the boundary of a small deer park that once existed in the parish, possibly located in the area between ChurchRoad and the watercourse which forms the boundary with Brundall Parish (S1), but this is now believed to be incorrect.
A few sherds of medieval coarse ware were recovered during the excavations [5].

May 1991. Verbal Communication.
A local resident [2] states that the excavation found several large flint wall footings. One of these is still visible at ground level, measuring two feet wide, and continuing beneath an early 19th century barn (now a house) on adjacent Church Farm. A brick vaulted drain, probably not of great age, runs south to the ponds.

August 1995. Watching Brief.
Installation of a water pipeline just to west of the excavated area did not reveal any remains of the buildings noted at this location.
See NHER 31642 for fruther details of this monitoring work.
