Full Description
1981.On surface of field first ploughed 1979. Directly south of Broad House.
Pottery kiln.
Site identified from dense concentration of sherds of green glazed red earthenware vessels. Soil discolouration over an area around 40m square indicates the site of buildings and possibly at least one kiln. A thin scatter of sherds and tile fragments is found throughout the field.
3 February and 9 April 1981. Field Observation.
Visits to the site were made.
Sherds were collected and a plan of surface features made. An early 17th century date is suggested. The area is shown as rough pasture on a map of around 1819.
