Summary

A World War One concrete pillbox survives at this location. It is circular in shape and is of a quite rare type. This defensive structure appears on aerial photographs that were taken in 1994.

Noted by Pillbox Survey as having gunports of varying heights. Illustration in (S1: p2).
(S2) states that this structure dates from World War One.

Local interest in and care for the pillbox has resulted in some repair work to the concrete and metal shutters, and there is enthusiasm for designation (S4).

A World War One circular pillbox can clearly be seen next to the road on Ordnance Survey 1994 aerial photographs (S3). The structure was previously recorded by the Norfolk defensive structures survey (D3-8) and noted to be quite rare, dating to 1916-1918. Built of individual concrete blocks and with gunports of varying heights. Interior and exterior photographs of this pillbox can be found in (S1).
