23 November 1980. Surface finds in fieldwalking.
6 flint tools = flakes (J. Wymer January 1985).
2 Samian sherds.
31 Roman greyware.
25 oxydised including 1 Oxfordshire-type mortarium.
70 coarseware, predominantly Roman greyware but including some medieval.
9 coarse grey sherds, dark with oxydised surfaces, date?
2 flint-gritted prehistoric sherds.
2 sherds and scraps, soft, large quartz inclusions, dat?
7 medieval/late medieval glazed.
16 post medieval glazed.
2 clay pipe stems.
Miscellaneous tile, brick, all probably post medieval.
2 slag lumps.
Miscellaneous iron.

Identified by A. Rogerson (NAU) April 1981.
(S1) records this as Site 21, a small Roman settlement that extends into Site 14 (NHER 16857), and is close to Site 16 (NHER 16860), This is one of a number of small Roman settlements strung out along a ridge.
