Full Description
Late 1980. Surface finds in fieldwalking. Hales Hall Survey.
585 medieval coarse sherds.
54 medieval to late medieval sherds.
131 late medieval to early post medieval glazed.
50 post medieval glazed (including 3 black glazed).
Very rough division between these latter three categories. Site probably does not extend much if at all into 17th century.
1 very pale cream fine fabric, not glazed, import?, unidentified.
Brick/tile fragments including pantile and 1 roof tile with green glaze. Late medieval.
1 copper alloy cow/sheep bell fragment.
8 clay pipe stems.
Miscellaneous ironwork.
Part of mortar in shelly limestone.
19 lava quern fragments.
13 stoneware sherds 15th to 17th century.
13 china, willow pattern etc.
Identified by A. Rogerson (NAU) 1981.

Intense medieval and early post medieval activity, but after the 16th century the site appears to have been deserted.
