Full Description
April 1981. Site visit.
Early 18th century brick house of six bays, two storeys on north facade. Western bay slightly recessed, with pedimented doorcase on ground floor. Large pedimented doorcase central to remaining five bays. Obviously designed to give the impression of being one large house. Overall hipped pantile roof with central dormer. East wall has two upper windows - one large and round-headed - above two small rectangular openings. A building formerly adjoined on west, now demolished. The rear (south) wall is similar to north facade for No. 6 (with added outbuildings) but rear of No. 4 has had a taller garden front added in the later 18th century, of three bays with round-headed door.
Now derelict. Interior inaccessible. Part of roof at west end collapsed. Listed Grade II.
See (S1).
E. Rose (NAU), 29 April 1981.
1983.
Demolished.
Newspaper report in file, see (S2).
