Full Description

Cropmarks.
Cropmarks of ditched, rectangular enclosure.
D. Edwards (NAU), 16 March 1981.
November 2021. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a previously recorded (see above) undated rectilinear enclosure can be seen on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The date and function of the feature is unknown. Finds from various periods have been previously recovered from across the area (NHER 37124).It is possible that the enclosure may be Iron Age to Roman or medieval to post medieval in date. Multi-phase boundaries have also been recorded in close proximity to the south and west. (NHER 64293). Two possible boundary ditches are also visible on the aerial photographs (NHER 64293). It is unclear as to whether the enclosure overlays or is overlain by these features. The monument polygon has been slightly amended.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 23 November 2021.
