Full Description
Cropmarks of a ring ditch and enclosure previously recorded under this record are now recorded under NHER 51180.
H. Hamilton (NLA), 24 January 2008.
April 1992. Metal-detecting.
An unusual silver coin of Henry III was recovered during metal-detecting.
It is a mule composed of a combination Henry III's Class 1 and Class 2 dies that has not been recorded previously.
See file and (S1) for details.
D. Gurney (NLA), 16 April 1992.
September 1992. Metal-detecting.
A late Saxon bronze tongue-shaped mount was recovered. It has a rivet hole at the rounded end, two rivet holes at the base with rivets in situ, and the mount is flat, without flange. It's decorated on one face with a double-contoured figure-of-eight motif, with spirals on the inner edge. Possibly a zoomorphic design.
See details in file.
W. Milligan (NCM), 11 September 1992.
Grid reference corrected from original [1].
M. Horlock (NLA), 27 March 2003.
May 2011.
The object type for the Late Saxon mount discovered in 1992 has been re-identified and is now known to be a stirrup-strap mount. This particular example has been published in [S2], 103, fig. 63, no. 498.
E. Darch (HES), 11 May 2011.
