Summary

This is the site of a post medieval watermill marked on 17th and 18th century maps. The mill does not appear on 19th century maps and remains of the oak frame in which the overshot wheel worked were discovered during sewerage works in 1901.

Marked on Bell's map of 1680 (S1) and Rastrick's map of 1725 (S2) (as Hydromola) but not on 19th century maps.

(S3) states that parts of the oak frame of this mill measuring 2.75m x 0.56m x 0.51m and 1.5m x 0.4m x 0.4m
(22in by 20in by 9ft and 16in by 16in by 5ft) in which the overshot wheel worked, were discovered during sewerage works in 1901.
