March 2005. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of the possible oval burial mound are not visible on aerial photographs from 1945 (S2). This would indicate that the earthworks have been caused by twentieth century activity. Another indicator that this site is not a prehistoric burial mound is the location of the site. The earthworks are within the area of medieval peat extraction that took place on the former common (NHER 32157) and therefore the site must be post medieval in date at the earliest. Although the aerial photograph evidence would suggest it is second half of twentieth century in date.
S. Massey (NMP), 29 March 2005.
