Summary

Cropmarks initially believed to represent a circular ditch and a central feature were identified on an aerial photograph of this location. These cropmarks were however subsequently re-identified as being most likely of geological origin. This revised interpretation is supported by trial trenching undertaken in 2011, which revealed no evidence for associated sub-surface remains (see NHER 55849).

September 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The above referred to ring ditch was not mapped as part of the NMP project. Assessment of the above aerial photograph (S1) and other available vertical photography indicated that the circular feature recorded may result from underlying geological deposits.

August-September 2011. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of large proposed development area.
A trench placed across the centre of the recorded location of these cropmarks revealed no archaeologically -significant features.
