Summary

Schmetterling House is a three-storey timber-framed thatched house, dating to around 1600. The section south of the chimneystack may have been rebuilt around 1800.

English Heritage Listing 1981:
Schmetterling House, Green Lane. Tivetshall St Margaret.
16th to 17th century timber-framed house. Plastered. Thatched roof with gabled ends. Two central brick chimney stacks. Two storeys and attic. 19th century casements. Later gabled porch in front of stack. Interior: exposed timber-framing with stopped and chamfered beams.
