Summary

Metal detecting here in 1979-80 recovered a number of metal objects. Finds included Roman coins of Domitian, Hadrian and Lucius Vaerus, a sherd of Roman greyware, a forgery of an Elizabeth I shilling and an Early Saxon brooch. These finds are all part of large scatter NHER 30258.

Winter 1979-80. Area [1]. Found with metal detector.
As of Domitian AD 69-96, reverse illegible.
Sestertius of Hadrian AD 117-138, reverse illegible.
As of Lucius Vaerus AD 161-9, reverse illegible.
In all, three reverses were worn flat, a regular feature of coins on some temple sites where coins have been walked into the floor.
Also two coins of Valens or Valentinian I, SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE, mint illegible AD 364-378.
Non-diagnostic body sherd of Roman greyware.
Base metal forgery of Elizabeth I shilling.
To be given to Thetford Museum?
