6 July 1977, 28 July 1977, 2 August 1977. NAU air photography.
Cropmark. Linear cropmarks of possible long barrow.
D. Edwards (NAU), 22 January 1981.

Also various linear cropmarks crossing Staithe Lane to the southeast.
E. Rose (NAU), 29 September 1981.

11 July 1986.
NAU air photography extends site greatly to southeast showing that some of the linear cropmarks form two sets of parallel lines very much resembling cursus. Interesting in view of suggested long barrow.
E. Rose (NLA), 19 March 1993.

12 July 1990.
Area extended further to southwest to include D-shaped enclosure and linear cropmark.
D. Edwards (NAU).

8 July 1996. NAU air photography.
Some of the linear features appear to form a series/network of enclosures.
H. Clare (NLA), 26 October 2001.

A cropmark of a possible Neolithic long barrow or small mortuary enclosure is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S7). Linear ditch and field boundary cropmarks previously recorded as part of this site are now recorded separately as NHER 49545. Consequently the central grid reference for this site has been amended from TG 3613 0251 to TG 3616 0264. A cropmark of a sub-rectangular enclosure with rounded corners is present. It is defined by a 2m wide ditch and measures 36m by 17m externally. It is possible that it relates to a long barrow or small mortuary enclosure of Neolithic date. Its size is comparable to other possible small long barrows or mortuary enclosures in East Norfolk (e.g. NHER 16652 at Witton, which measures 33m by 14m). A possible Neolithic cursus previously recorded at this site based on parallel ditch cropmarks is a misinterpretation. The linear ditch cropmarks actually relate to field and toft boundaries of medieval to post medieval date (NHER 49545).
J. Albone (NMP), 21 June 2007
