Summary

In 1968 a patch of black bituminous smelting residue was noted in this field. Subsequent fieldwalking in 1983 and metal-detecting between 2022 and 2023 recovered a single prehistoric worked flint; Late Prehistoric, Roman and medieval pottery sherds; several medieval roof tile fragments (a sample of a light spread present at this location); Roman coin and a post-medieval token
