Full Description
Impressive complex. Very large, of red brick, divided into two by a wall apparently original. Roof of two orders of tie beams, and some smaller beams appear reused. Cart doors on south blocked owing to a range of four gabled wings with large arched openings, also in red brick. Roofs have struts from base of king posts. Also some 17th century S-braces reused in odd positions.
One has been removed to the cottage (site NHER 17662).
Date of barn around 1800, extensions around 1860-70.
E. Rose (NAU), 16 October 1981.
Source notes a possible horse gin here.
