Royal Observer Corps Lookout.
Octagonal brick tower now about 2.5m high. Iron ladder to top (ruined). Nearby a deep underground shelter with counterweighted entrance.
Apparently post World War Two. Probably one of those set up at the time of the Berlin crisis and later abandoned. Yes, the underground rooms were added after 1953.
