Map

Small cottage, thatched, two storeys and attics.
All windows renewed but some retaining a 'long low' shape. Central brick chimney with two polygonal stacks.
Gable walls of brick, other walls rendered over.
Presumably timber framed.
All whitewashed, so that it is very difficult to date the brick gable walls, but the other features suggest an early 17th century, or perhaps late 16th century date.
Excellent condition.
E. Rose (NAU), 3 December 1981.

The listed building description (S1) (which places the house in Furze Lane, a name not now used) also dates this to the early 17th century. However when seen from a distance in 2005 it was evident that the roof to one side of the stack is higher than to the other, lower side, often the sign of a floored hall house.
E. Rose (NLA), 7 March 2005.

Fieldwalking.
Three Late Medieval Transitional sherds.
Seen by W. Milligan (NCM) 1988.
A. Cattermole (NLA), 6 June 2005.
