A more detailed examination indicates that this is indeed a hall house with narrow central hall; possibly a Wealden house, retaining an original brick hall fireplace. Date is likely to be late medieval. Hall floored over in 17th century; stack later extended; building faced in brick in the 19th century, extended 1959 and in about 1985. The fragments of stone in the garden are likely to be from the chancel of the parish church.
See report (S2) for further details.
