Summary

In 1981 fieldwalking here recovered a small assemblage of prehistoric worked flints, including cores, flakes and a small number of retouched flakes. Although a date was not suggested for these finds when they were first examined it is possibly that they were Mesolithic or Neolithic. Metal-detecting in 2018 and 2020 recovered a Late Saxon/medieval schist hone or whetstone; a Roman pottery sherd; medieval to post-medieval coin and a number of other metal objects, including a Roman copper alloy bead; Late Saxon/medieval lead weight; medieval buckles and a harness pendant; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment and post-medieval buckles.
