Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking at this location in 1981 and 2023 recovered an Early Neolithic leaf-shaped flint arrowhead; Roman, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins and a number of other metal objects, including a Late Roman strap end; a medieval buckle and copper alloy and lead seal matrices and a post-medieval copper alloy and glass seal matrix/fob seal.

Autumn 1981. Scatter in southwest corner of field.
Finds below are NCM.
Roman and medieval sherds including one Roman rim distorted in firing and one Thetford type rim.
As, 1st-2nd century AD.
Barbarous radiate.
Coin of Victorinus, reverse: illegible, AD 268-70.

Quinarius of Allectus VIRTVS AVG QC.
Antoninianus of Tetricus I reverse: illegible.
Irregular of Constantius II FEL TEMP REPARATIO (FH).
Antoninianus of Claudius VICTORIA AVG Siscia AD 268-70.
Commemmorative of Claudius II CONSECRATIO c. AD 270, RIC 259. Plus another but RIC 265.
Irregular antoninianus of Tetricus I SALVS AVG AD 270-3.
Silver cut halfpenny of William the Lion of Scotland (identified by S. Margeson NCM).
Late Roman bronze strap end. (S1 and S3) in file.
