Summary

A tithe map of 1840 recorded the name of this place as Drake Hill. Documents show that similar placenames to this one often indicate barrow sites. However, it is unclear if there was ever a barrow here as the sandy hill here has been quarried away in the centre.

Placename - Drake Hill. Recorded on tithe map 1840.
1490 terrier of parish in NRO is damaged for this area.
Note similarity of name to such placenames as Drakelow etc. indicating barrow sites (S1).
Site is a sandy hill now quarried away in centre.
