Map

Defensive position? Marked on (S1) as pumphouse.
Now in RSPB lagoon as part of causeway and only visible from the side. This has massive concrete walls and small iron-edged slits and resembles more a World War Two work such as NHER 18075.
Perhaps a pill box by coincidence on pump site.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU), 22 April 1982.

Previously recorded under NHER 32409 in error (grid reference on survey record form (S2) is incorrect.)
Unknown, rare structure. 1940/45. Large bunker half hidden by hide in lagoon.
Survey No. C1-3.
Information from [1].
See (S2) in file.
D. Walker (NLA), July 1996.

For information from Defensive Structures Survey previously recorded under this number, see NHER 18072.
Previously erroneously located at TF 75030 44360, now corrected to TF 75032 44498.
A pumphouse is not marked on (S1) at either location.
A. Cattermole (HES), 8 November 2010.

March 2006. Desk-based Assessment and Walkover Survey.
Assessment of land at RSPB Titchwell.
A map of 1943, annotated to show World War Two debris, records this structure a "pill box in earth and grass-covered mound". An "earth and grass-covered causeway" is shown connecting this structure to another pillbox that lay to the east (NHER 61053).
The walkover survey noted that this structure is stil extant (although as this work took place before the locations were corrected for several NHER records, it was incorrectly identified as NHER 18074).
See report (S3) for further details.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2025.101).
P. Watkins (HES), 22 July 2015 and 18 August 2025.

July 2009. Photographic survey.
See (S4).
S. Howard (NLA), 10 May 2010.
