Summary

A large number of pottery sherds were recovered from this location between 1982 and 1983. Pottery types identified included Late Saxon Thetford Ware and St Neots Ware, medieval glazed Grimston Ware, late medieval non-Grimston glazed wares, and one possible Roman sherd.

1982. Casual Find.
Eighteen Thetford-type sherds were found in a very small area of disturbance to the ground surface.
These have been identified as three St Neots Ware sherds, five early medieval to medieval sherds, and one bodysherd with straight combed decoration which may be Roman.

Additional material found in 30 minutes each year from bare earth at this location as well as the edge of the tennis court and jumping pit here.
One hundred and thirty-six sherds, not divided. Identified as Thetford, St Neots, medieval unglazed, Grimston glazed and medieval to late medieval non-Grimston glazed.
