Summary

Fieldwalking in 1981 and 1987 by the Fenland Survey recovered a number of medieval and post medieval pottery sherds.

Map

28 October 1981. East of Sea Bank ('Roman Bank') along north side Terrington bypass (old railway line).
Sherds collected in rapid walk from north side newly recut roadside ditch. No features except north-to-south field boundaries as shown on 6 inch Ordnance Survey but soil conditions not favourable.
Most sherds small and abraded.
Context 1: western of three fields. Two glazed Grimston. Four medieval unglazed. One Bourne Fabric D. One post medieval glazed.
Context 2: Central field. Eleven medieval unglazed. Five glazed Grimston. One Bourne fabric D. Two post medieval glazed. Five stoneware post medieval or 19th century. One lava fragment.
Context 3: Eastern field. Five glazed Grimston. Two medieval unglazed. One oxydised ?date.

10 April 1987. The three fields now combined into one. Fieldwalking by Fenland Survey over remainder of field as well as former contexts.
Context 4: Weathered ploughsoil. Only odd medieval sherds found.
