November 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of a ring ditch, possibly relating to a medieval to post medieval stack stand, is visible on aerial photographs (S1 and S2). The grid reference for this cropmark has been amended from TG 4819 0823 to TG 4819 0825. The ring ditch is sub circular to sub oval in plan. It has a narrow ditch and a maximum external diameter of 12.5m. The location of this ring ditch, on marshland that only developed during the post Roman period, indicates that it cannot be of prehistoric date. It is most likely that it is of medieval to post medieval date. It is possible that it is a stack stand or other small enclosure designed to keep a central area well drained.
J. Albone (NMP), 28 November 2005.
