Summary

This is the site of an early medieval settlement. Fieldwalking and metal detecting have recovered pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods, a medieval quern and other finds.

Field of sugar beet in rows, brown loamy soil.
226 medieval unglazed sherds including ginger jar rim and other sherds which look early medieval.
36 medieval/late medieval glazed.
1 off white body sherd with external green glazed, import.
1 Roman? Colour coated.
6 post medieval glazed.
4 stoneware.
Glass fragments.
2 rims of very fine fabric flowerpot?
2 lava quern fragments.
Brick and roof tile fragments.

Late 1982. Northeast corner.
19 medieval unglazed, including odd form footring?
2 medieval glazed.
1 miscellaneous oxydised sherd.

12 medieval unglazed, including 1 bunghole, 1 handle, 1 body sherd with applied.
