Cropmarks of a medieval to post medieval road or track are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2). The central grid reference for these cropmarks has been amended from TM 3750 9370 to TM 3760 9374. Other linear cropmarks previously recorded under this HER number are now recorded separately as NHER 44988. A linear negative cropmark representing a compacted or metalled surface is present for 240m on a southwest to northeast alignment. It is flanked and partly overlain by linear ditch cropmarks. This cropmark continues the line of Honeypot Lane to the northeast and possibly represents the original route of that road. A field boundary is shown on the same alignment on both the 1839 Kirby Cane tithe map (S3) and the first edition 6 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map of the 1880s (S4). Both of these maps show the track connecting Honeypot Lane to School Lane following its present roughly north to south route. Faden’s 1797 Map of Norfolk (S5) also shows the southern part of Honeypot Lane on its present course and does not provide any evidence for a southwest to northeast aligned section of road. It is possible that the section of road or track visible as a cropmark is of medieval to early post medieval origin.
