Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1980 showed the cropmarks of parallel ditches of a possible trackway at this location. This trackway appears to continue the line of Roman road (NHER 8786) and is therefore presumably a feature of contemporary date.

This is in fact the same as the 'eroded bank visible on either side of present north-to-south lane and underneath road surface of land itself, appearing to continue line of Roman road 8786' noted by C. J. S. Green in April 1975.

This was wrongly placed further south and numbered NHER 4375 at that time.
OS surveyors 1978 noted bank continuing east of land where not visible on NAU aerial photographs.
Measured survey in file.
