Summary

Housing development was carried out here in 1973-74. This work unearthed lots of pottery sherds, most of which were post medieval but some of which were medieval. This site used to be the location of St Benedict's Church and in the medieval period documents suggest that two almshouses existed in the parish of St Benedict's. Therefore it is possible they existed in this area.
