Full Description
Nos 11 and 13 Norwich Street.
August 1972. Listed Grade II.
Listing Description:
17th century with alterations, two storeys, stucco, lined and painted. Two flush frame sash windows at 1st floor with glazing bars. Central entrance with shop window each side, all with wood cases with pilasters. Pantiles, coupled bracket eaves cornice.
Interior: stop chamfered beams and cross beams, hewn joists.
Wood boarded wing right with entrance.
Nos 1 to 25 (odd) form a group.
Information from (S1).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 13 March 2018.
Inside shop (Ellis's Jewellers) is visible massive ceiling beam with late 16th/early 17th century chamfer stops, longitudinal, joining a lateral beam with similar stops each side of junction. Longitudinal beam disappears under a modern ceiling to west and probably continues into adjacent premises. No other original features visible.
Compiled by E. Rose (NAU), 11 October 1982.
Information from (S2).
It should be noted that, due to confusion over numbering, this entry previously mistakenly contrasted these observations with the listing description for the adjacent building, No 9 Norwich Street (NHER 46167).
P. Watkins (HES), 13 March 2018.
