NHER 18420 (Monument record) - Earthworks of moat or toft northwest of Bush Green

Possible Moat.
Feature shown on map (S1) north side of moat with studs of east and west arms, but not marked as moat.
(S2) shows this as now but with house to south. Looks more convincing as moat.

1982. Site visit.
North arm remains as on OS, much overgrown. Ditch of road on south is large here (part shown by OS as pond). Is this the original south arm? Not convincing as moat on ground now, but bearing in mind (S2), it very probably was.

August 1997. Earthwork Survey.
Survey at 1:1000, indicating a common edge settlement, probably a toft.

June 2000. Visit.
Site under pasture grazed by horses, parts rough to be cut for hay. Owner wishes to cut two small channels to northeast and southwest to improve drainage on wet areas of the field. He will notify A & E about operations which will be of minimal impact on the site.
