Summary

Aerial photographs taken in 1976 showed the cropmarks of a sub-rectangular enclosure at this location. In around 1977 a Bronze Age stone axehead was recovered from the site before it was subject to a fieldwalking survey in 1982. This survey discovered Neolithic and Bronze Age flints as well as sherds of medieval pottery.

Bronze Age stone axehead, (S1).
Owner not known - handed to [1] at WEA class 1977.
Stone battle axe of Roe's intermediate type (Bronze Age).
Petrology N226 - permission to slice not given.
Source [1] though it was dolerite.

Finder showed findspot to R. Silvester (NAU) 1982 as at about 6909 0946.
Object was taken by former landowner to Australia.

2 December 1982. Fieldwalking.
Odd sherds of Roman and medieval date scattered over field.
Later corrected to say, no Roman.
No concentrations.
