Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1982 and 2016 recovered prehistoric worked flints, including several potentially Late Mesolithic/Early Neolithic pieces and a Neolithic core; undated copper alloy casting waste and other probable production debris; Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, Middle Saxon and medieval coins; a medieval/post-medieval token and a range of other, undatable and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undated copper alloy ring; Roman brooches and a bracelet fragment; Early Saxon brooches, wrist clasps, a mount, harness pendant and pair of tweezers; Middle Saxon Ansate brooch; Middle Saxon/Late Saxon strap ends; Late Saxon brooches (including one made from a base silver copy of an Islamic dirham), a bracelet, lead weight and copper alloy ingot; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval furniture stud, mount, probable padlock fragment, iron horseshoes and lead weight; a medieval/post-medieval cast vessel leg, copper alloy unidentified object, lead spindle whorl or weight and lead weight and a post-medieval copper alloy bowl fragment.
