22 December 1982. Long narrow field. Frozen washed silt on surface and under wheat burnt stubble. Conditions however poor for walking.
Few medieval sherds - from manuring?
No trace of Roman sherds from adjacent site (NHER 18600).

Some of the material found has been reidentified as Roman pottery.
